Prayer times

Twelve calculation methods, a countdown to the next prayer, and a ±30-minute shift on any time to match your mosque — computed offline on your device.

Qibla compass

Automatic magnetic-declination correction, showing the qibla bearing and the distance to the Kaaba straight from your location.

Find the nearest mosque

An interactive map around your location with a radius from 1 to 10 km, showing distance and direction with one-tap navigation.

What does the app offer?

Prayer times

Accurate times for the five prayers and sunrise, today and tomorrow, with a countdown to the next prayer. Twelve calculation methods including Umm al-Qura, the Muslim World League and the Egyptian General Authority of Survey, plus a ±30-minute shift on any time to match your mosque — all computed offline.

Full adhan

A complete recorded adhan that plays when the time enters — even with the screen locked — and a dedicated Fajr adhan that adds “prayer is better than sleep”. The recordings are bundled and work offline from the first install.

Pre-prayer reminder

An adjustable reminder before each prayer, with a live countdown in the notification that hands over to the prayer alert (or the adhan) when the time arrives — including per-prayer sound and vibration choices.

Qibla compass

An accurate compass with magnetic-declination correction showing the qibla direction and the distance to the Kaaba from your location, with calibration guidance and a live display of sensor accuracy.

Map & navigation

Find the nearest mosque

Discover nearby mosques on an interactive map around your current or saved location, with distance, a search radius from 1 to 10 km, and one-tap navigation handoff to any installed navigation app. The app queries two independent map services in parallel for speed and reliability — this feature alone needs an internet connection.

Hijri calendar

The Hijri and Gregorian dates side by side using the official Umm al-Qura table (1924–2076), plus midnight and the last third of the night, with a manual day adjustment to match your country’s local moon sighting.

Complete privacy

No accounts, no ads, no tracking: your data stays on your device, and the network is used only for the optional online city search, the nearby-mosque search and update checks. The app speaks Arabic and English, in light and dark themes.

Getting started

Download the app file

Tap the “Download the app” button above; the APK download starts immediately and appears in the download notification or your Downloads folder.

Open the file and install

Open the file from the notification or the Downloads folder and tap “Install”. If Android asks for the “install unknown apps” permission, grant it to your browser once and confirm.

Set your location

On first launch, pick a city from the bundled catalog or use your current location — you land straight on the prayer-times screen.

Enable notifications

Grant the notification permission when asked, then choose the alert style: a regular notification or the full adhan, with a pre-prayer reminder.

Frequently asked questions

Does the app work offline?

Yes. Every prayer-time, qibla and Hijri-calendar calculation runs directly on your device, and the bundled city catalog (~4,300 cities, 2,088 with Arabic names) works with no internet at all. The app uses the network for only three optional features: the online city search, the nearby-mosque search with its map, and update checks.

Is the app really free, without ads?

Yes — Noor Al-Sabeel is completely free: no ads, no subscriptions, no accounts and no tracking. The code is open source under Apache-2.0, so you can inspect it or build the app yourself from the official repository.

How does the app show the qibla?

With a built-in compass that automatically corrects magnetic declination and shows the qibla direction and the distance to the Kaaba from your location, along with calibration guidance and a live accuracy reading. Phone compasses have real physical limits, so when in doubt, cross-check with other signs such as the direction of local mosques.

Which calculation methods are available?

Twelve methods: Umm al-Qura (with the Ramadan isha rule), Muslim World League, Egyptian General Authority of Survey (the default), ISNA, Karachi, Gulf, Kuwait, Qatar, Singapore, Turkey, France, and fully custom angles — with a ±30-minute shift available on any individual time to match your mosque.

How do I install the app on my phone?

Tap the “Download the app (APK)” button at the top of the page to fetch the latest stable signed release directly, then open the file, grant your browser the “install unknown apps” permission once, and confirm. No Google Play account is needed; after installation the app itself checks for future updates.

Can I match the times with my mosque?

Yes — shift any prayer by up to 30 minutes earlier or later to align with your local mosque’s adhan, and use the dedicated mosque screen to find nearby mosques on an interactive map (see the next question).

How do I find the nearest mosque?

Open the “Mosques” tab and tap the search button: the app shows nearby mosques on an interactive map around your current location (after granting the location permission) or your saved location, with distance and one-tap navigation, and a search radius from 1 to 10 km. This search needs an internet connection because it queries open map services (OpenStreetMap); everything else in the app works offline.

Is the app on Google Play or F-Droid?

Not on Google Play at the moment; downloads are direct signed APKs from GitHub Releases, with the SHA-256 checksum published for every file. Submitting to F-Droid is planned, and acceptance is up to the F-Droid team — it is not guaranteed.
